
and moving through what appeared to be 4 or 5 different time zones, with many stops (the driver had a helluva caffeine habit), this one at a thatch hut.

That got us to Holguin, where we splurged on a taxi to take us the rest of the way to Camaguay. Miraculously, it was a brand new car, and the driver, Salvator, went at top speed, on a pretty good road.

Notice the flowering trees along the roadsides. That continued for at least 50 miles.

More about the city after a walking tour tomorrow. Bit of a flap with the casa particular (herein after CP) - they had the reserve' for tomorrow. No problem, the substitute was fine...

and we'll probably just stay here for the two nights we'll spend in this town.
We did manage to catch a smashing contemporary dance performance at the Teatro Principal (no photos or video allowed).

The Russians left some really ugly buildings, and did other damage here, but their classical dance legacy combined with Cuban style, spirit, imagination, energy and physicality is a wonder to behold - best dance performance I've ever seen.
